Devon--Speak Up

Sad, scared, lonely, and just a little bit lost
He used to be happy, had something to look forward to
Now life’s just bleak, used to be strong but now he’s weak
Has a few friends, but he knows it’s fake
Counselors, family, church, nothing worked
He cried at night and put on a fake smile in the morning
Inside he was mourning, over the death of his happiness
What happened to this boy, went from a leader to a toy
Unfortunate events lead to his downfall, and he still falls
No love, no hope, no one to understand, is he overreacting
or maybe just acting… NO he’s a lost soul, life is so awful
There’s no escape, no where to run
He’s given up, its over, no more fun because there was none
His mind wanders like a stray cat in a big city
Has a wild imagination but it’s trapped like an animal in the zoo
He doesn't know how to let it out besides scream and shout
There’s no hope for him, what else he supposed to do
Another wasted talent because the lack of hope
He could’ve been great but now it’s too late
The lost boy with no hope, trapped in a box
All because he couldn’t speak up when lost..
Speak up… Or become another lost cause…

  2. Have you ever watched spoken word poetry? You should look it up on YouTube. I can definitely tell this has personal elements, but it's also remarkably well put together. I love the similes and figurative language. Keep writing!

  4. This has a rhythmic flow that I really enjoy and appreciate. With a few minor tweaks, it could even be a really nice rap! You're very talented, great job!
