My Pursuit of Happiness
At family parties, I often get asked on what I want to do in life. Even I question that myself at times. Sure, growing up can be fun and amazing but will I be satisfied My main goal in life is simple, being happy. People say that the future is far ahead and I should just enjoy my youth. It’s important to understand that my struggles that I go through now are all for my future. I grew up with my parents’ influences on my mentality and on how I should perceive the world but as I pass through high school, I was able to form my own state of mind. I began to create my own ideals based on what my parents have taught me but with the addition of my generation rather than what their generation grew up as. Even so, adults would tell me that my adolescent mind has an incomplete understanding of the world around me. They aren’t wrong but as their consistent continuation of throwing so many putdowns at me, it’s as if they question my ambition. I know that I am capable of great things in the future because in the end, it is all on me. Personally, I believe that my attitude on how I’m going to take on the world will determine my future. I’m prone to changes as life passes on but I will always make sure that my morals stay the same. Change isn’t always a bad thing but as long as I stay passionate on completing my goals, I will be able to succeed. Not everything will be simple and easy but that is what adds on to an exciting life along with an addition of experiences. This all then ties down on how I am going to pursue my goals and aspirations, in other terms, my pursuit of happiness.
Wow! I can say that I honestly feel where you are coming because that's exactly how I feel when it comes to my future. This is stands down my favorite piece because I know where you are coming. Thank you for this and hope you pursue all your goals and of course be happy in life!
ReplyDeleteI can really relate to this piece because as a person, I question myself on what I truly want to get out of life and what my future ahead will look like. I love how you form yourself into this person where you know you can go far beyond your family's expectations and prove them wrong. It shows that you care about how you present yourself to others and shows that you genuinely care about your future so good job on this piece, Levie! (:
ReplyDeleteLevie, I loved this! People (especially family members) would always ask "What are you going to major in?", "What college are you going to?", "What do you want to be?", etc.. Point is, I've changed my major/career so many times until last year when I decided to be a filmmaker. I just want to be happy. Regardless of what people or society says, happiness is definitely a priority in life. And if a person wants it bad enough, I wholeheartedly believe they will be successful, and we all have our own perspectives of success.
ReplyDeleteSo whatever you major in or decided to pursue, I just hope you're happy :)
I feel you! Parents and your elders have an influence on you, but in the end the decision rests with you.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I loved it! Your use of diction was great. And you're right. As long as you have a positive attitude and stay true to yourself, you can accomplish anything.
ReplyDeletei agree the best thing is to be happy and enjoy your life you cant get to caught up in trying to mold your future and growing up you will miss all th amazing things of being a kid then a teen then a young adult so on so forth
ReplyDeleteAt the end of day you have to live with the decisions you make so you want to make the best one for you so that you'll be happy. I think we all can relate to this piece. Good job!
ReplyDeleteGood Job! I can relate I always question myself on what I want to do. But overall great narrative
ReplyDeleteGood Job !Go Get 'Em Girl! lol I believe in you. I think you'll be just fine. Great diction by the way.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the way you worded everything. I also loved the message of just being happy while your young and still growing to become an adult. Good job Levie :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great work considering that it is so relatable to me and I'm pretty sure to more people as well. Great diction was presented as well and it was very descriptive to.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Awesome word choice and nice introduction. That really pulled me in, since college questions are something we're all familiar with. Great message as well. If you want to succeed, you have to be happy first. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI understand completely that parents and other family members often press the issue of "what do you want to do with your life?", "do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?", "how's your grades?", and the infamous "what are you going to do after high school?" but it's very quite important to not worry about the future so much but focus on your current life as well! I don't know the struggle as much as you do considering I'm a freshman but I can still relate to this!
ReplyDeletei couldnt have said it any better myself, great paper hun
ReplyDeleteWay to go on choosing to find your own path in life, keep it up and make sure whatever you choose to do that it makes you happy.
ReplyDeleteGood grasp on the realities of being a teenager and growing up. That is what every parent wants to hear, that you absorbed their values and then became your own person by putting your own spin on their ideas.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, happiness is really low on some peoples list of priorities and it really should be higher on that list. Good piece.
ReplyDeleteLev, it's really hard to achieve those goals but they're goals for a reason. You'll be happy, but it takes trial and error as well as openness to achieve the answers. Have faith Lev.
ReplyDeletegreat job! great use of diction and great subject! kept me interested
ReplyDeleteI liked this piece a lot! I really connected with you and this is a topic that is so very easy to relate to ! Good Job!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a relate able topic because we are all going through that stage where we just want to enjoy life but we also still have to worry about the future and constantly are being told what to think and how to feel by everybody else.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day the decision is yours. I have changed major a billion times. From wanting to be Indian Jones to my final decision in pursuing a degree in International Studies and joining the Marines. I know you can make it very far in life.
ReplyDeletegreat narrative !
ReplyDeleteReally interesting story and great choice of words.
ReplyDeleteReally relatable, especially with the fact that we have been having to make so many decisions lately. Even though the structuring was a little off, it was nice to read and pretty easy to read. I really like the topic.
ReplyDeletegood job! my family as well asks me the same questions , but I think I brush them off because it feels so far but its going to be coming so soon.
ReplyDeleteI agree, people always ask that sort of question and act all surprised if it isn't some sort of mind numbing job occupation, but to just be happy
ReplyDeleteI think that you are right when you say that yourself and your own attitude determines where you will be, not your elders prejudice against you, or anyone elses.
ReplyDeleteawesome piece!
ReplyDeleteThis was great just because its so relevevant, and because I think we can all agree and understand where you're coming from. Just make the best of it. I know you will.
ReplyDeleteMy only aspiration in life is to be happy too. DO what makes you proud and the rest will follow
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to this! That question always comes up whenever I'm at family gatherings.. great piece
ReplyDeletevery awesome it was a inspiring story to me
