Guneet

Travel
Traveling, I loved every bit of it, experiencing all the nooks and crannies of different locations it always gave me this feeling of exhilaration. But you see my traveling was different from the norm. Since I was thirteen I had this unique ability to leave to places in my sleep, instead of dreams my soul somehow transported into an abyss of darkness. I knew the whole process and was no longer scared of this forever expanse of darkness, I knew all I had to do was think, think of a place I wanted to be. Conjure up the location and imagine every detail I could create. There, there I was in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Egypt, London, Switzerland anything you could think of and I was there. The moment I realized these weren’t dreams was when I decided to take something from one of the places and as I woke up the object was still there. I questioned everything from that point on but never got anywhere. Today was another day, I was eighteen now and still got excited about my nights, thinking in class where I should go, what I should see. It was ten when I finally dozed off, it happened fast I was standing in the darkness. This time was different there was no control, it felt as if I was spiraling and getting sucked into a black hole different from other times when I felt tingly sensations.
I was in another world, a whole other universe. I slowly blinked my eyes, adjusting them to these bright lights in the sky. I got up or mostly stumbled, it felt weird my body felt light almost as if I could float and fly away. I’m not exactly sure how I got here I just knew I wasn’t on earth. I stared across, everything was fluorescent, the grass glowed green, the flowers a different array of colors and the sky, the bright lights were stars. How big they were almost as if I could reach out and touch them. I took a step and nearly glided off the ground. It looked like I was in a forest, and although I was excited about this new place it made me nervous and on edge especially when I heard a movement in the bushes. I ran and stumbled, fell a couple of times as well but didn’t care I needed to get out of this place and fast. The exits through these destinations were natural, sometimes I would have to pinch myself or go into deep concentration to go back to my bed. I tried and tried but nothing happened, I was stuck. I didn’t even realize where I had reached until I saw a city. It was grand, there were little domes situated everywhere, these clear tubes floating in the sky and in the middle of It all was a palace. I was brought out of my daze when I heard that noise again. I looked behind and noticed something green standing, staring.

  1. That's my favorite part about dreams: you can go anywhere & anything can happen. They're great! This was a great depiction. Good job!

  3. Man your imagery was intense. I like how you described every place your character went to. I'm curious to how it ends though. Like w hat was the green thing/creature and does your character ever make it back to earth? Nice Job :)

  4. This was amazing! I love it when we dream or rather when we control them instead of just sleeping. I would always dream about so many random things that at one point i was in this place and to the next like as if i was transported to a different world in a different situation as a dream, which is very odd. The ending was interesting, i wonder what that creature was? Was it an alien? Great Job Guneet!

  8. This reminds me of a mix of the movies The Lovely Bones and Insidious. You were in such a pretty place but couldn't escape when trouble was following you. Totally cool.

  13. Your details were great. I was literally picturing the setting of everything as the story was going along. I also like how the character was unique, but still easy to identify with because of the personality.

  16. What a fun idea. You should continue to expand on such a mystery. What if she isn't the only one and now that shes 18 and of age she was taken back to her real world, or like half human half that species which is why she was given the ability to..maybe this is gettin' a little wild i dunno. Great. Thank you for sharing:)

  32. That was really cool, man. At first you take us to locations popular with tourists, but then the dislocation to a different corner of the universe was beautiful cause it showed the travelers infinite boundaries to exploration.
