Damion--Sports

Sports
As you can see this maybe a typical male topic that most females may turn away by just reading the topic but it is something much more. Yes, males watch more sports than females because of increase of testosterone and giving the male thinking as if they won as well. However, there are more things that matter than the scoreboard. Especially in sports that include teams, much has to be done in order for them to combine and play as one. They play as one to achieve the ultimate goal of being a champion. Chemistry is a main part and no not that subject that everyone struggles about trying to get an A. That chemistry is not something that is shown but is proven by the way teammates play together and how they each are inspired by each other to do better. Some teammates get in other face to infuriate them to play better because they know they play better angry. This shows how much a family these teammates truly are to get to know what another and predict what the other one is going to do on the court, field, rink or pitch.      There is also passion involved in these sports where these players strive for greatness trying to be the best they can be in order for their team to be. Sure athletes may not always perform at their top level tier but that’s why a team is important. If one of their players isn’t doing good, they try to perform better and try to teach that other player what he is doing wrong. They work every year in their sport to get better and better to get to their next goal as a team. Yes an MVP award is nice but winning a championship with a group of people is what they strive to win. Winning a championship is not an easy task considering you have to be consistent with a group. Each individual person has to put their best effort in order for their team to get better. If one player lacks practicing they are not going to win that championship because they believe they are not the best they can be. That is another issue the mentality of wanting that championship. They have to completely forget everything else that is going on around them in order to perform their duty and play their sport. They need to be focused and determined in order to be the best they can be. You also have to think you are going to win and be confident in yourself. No this doesn’t mean having bad sportsmanship and rubbing it in other people’s faces but stand up for you and consider yourself still developing to get to that next level. A factor that also plays in winning that championship is being healthy. They have to be mentally and physically healthy in order to be the best. Mentality is an issue because if there is something that is going on in their mind that disturbs them then they cannot focus on their job, playing the game. They also have to take care of themselves physically and eat healthy that way they don’t injure themselves and can keep their team’s chances of winning greater. Winning a championship is great, however many steps that need to be taken in order for a team to win that championship that many don’t see. That is the beauty of sports that I love.

  2. You might think that females don't like the topic of sports but I chose your topic because I'm a female athlete myself. I do agree on your point of view on sports that it takes much hard work and dedication to win a championship. Also, I agree with you that being in a team is like being in a family because everyone plays an important role to achieve a common goal. You're right about mental and physical health of playing a sport because an athlete needs to be mentally prepared for the challenges they face in and out of the game. Plus, they need to be physically healthy so they avoid injuries and are in shape for the speed of their game. Overall I think your piece was great despite that there may have been a few grammatical errors. It was enjoyable.

  3. Hmmm. I guess you can really say ball is life in any situation huh? I really liked how you talked about the passion that sports provides, rather than the outside shell of competition seen by those who aren't fan of sports. I really liked your description in this piece. Great job!
