Chris--Lost In Love

Love a four letter word with a million meanings. I can’t help but get lost in definitions of love ever since I was a kid I always wanted to know what the true meaning of this four letter word really means. Is it posting a Instagram picture telling the world that you met your true love in the 7th grade? Is it making out by the MPR in 11th grade? or is it really putting your heart in a girl and getting friend zoned? Whatever the case may be, I think everyone has their own definition of love. This makes me think, i’m surrounded by so called “love” but is it really love? This isn’t to make everyone feel like what they feel like isn’t love, but just to make you think and really find your true definition. Love is only a word until someone or something can give it meaning. Is it waiting for your prince charming to ride up on a stallion and slay the mighty dragon just to ask you on a date, or are you waiting to experience a feeling you never felt before? I wouldn’t know because I don’t know your situation but what I do know is that the average lifespan of a human is around 82 years old. Considering the most of us are 17 plus or minus. Your missing out on 65 good years to maybe find something or someone else you love. Not just another human either, maybe a passion for art takes you to Italy to have your own renaissance, or a passion for soccer takes you to Spain to watch a Barcelona game at the Camp Nou. Maybe love means to experience everything and anything with something to a point you can’t live without it. Whatever your meaning is all I can say really now is.... I’m lost in love.

  1. good point. I think at our age most of us are still "lost in love." Be careful of redundancy. I got a little bogged down in wordage a couple of times. Thank you for voicing what is on most of our minds.

  3. If you are Catholic, love is trying to get another person into heaven, is not my definition but I thought is a pretty good one to say.

  4. What is love? WHAT IS LIFE? SO MANY QUESTIONS! AGHHHHHH! Great story. You really showed a different meaning to the word "love."

  5. I get that you are saying that love is blind that is it is confusing at first, but you understand it later. Its very hard to find the mes=aning of love. Good job!!

  6. I love the message that love is so complex even to the point that everyone potentially sees it or experiences it differently. Great thought provoking piece!

  7. Your piece was different from what I originally thought I would be. At first I thought that it might be about your experience with love but then you ended up writing about the complexity behind the definition of love. It was interesting to read and after reading this I believe that everyone is lost in love whatever form that may be. My only concer was that as I was reading this, it seemed a bit rushed and there were grammatical error that needed to be addressed. Overall I had fun reading your work. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I really enjoyed your piece because of the way you view love. Everyone has their own interpretation of it and the way you described it allows your audience to reflect and think about how they view love as well. The language you used is very smooth and I found myself agreeing with a lot of what you were saying. Nice work.

  10. Wow! That piece is so profound and really made me think. I enjoyed how you broke down the thoughts of what people may consider what love is. It truly makes you wonder and evaluate for yourself what you think love is. However, like you said every person has their own interpretation. Great Job.

  11. I definitely agree that Love is whatever you want it to mean. I'm really glad that you wrote about also loving something. I fall in love with things more than people. Not necessarily materialistic things either.
    Anyways well abstract piece!

  13. Good job with the love theme...however I feel you went off on a tangent when you tried to list examples of love.

  15. I wholeheartedly agree that this is something people themselves have to give meaning to. We're ~17 years in, thanks for the reminder :P

  16. Interesting piece. I like that you opened the definition of love past what we tend to focus on, especially at our age. The technical aspects could use some work, but you did a fantastic job thinking deeply.

  19. Reading this got me thinking the different types of love people go through, whether it's for someone or something. Being only 15, I don't know what love means to myself yet even though I toss the word around sometime. The only love I feel is toward my family and for softball but that's really it. Overall great piece, you hooked me in and I really enjoyed reading it.

  20. This was a great piece love can be described in so many ways and us teenagers don't really know what the true meaning of love is towards one another it was very well written great job!! ~Isabella Torres

  27. I loved this! I'm not in love, and im actually with you on being stuck in the same boat of being confused on what love is. I really liked this story because it made me think twice on what I think love is. Great job.

  28. Lovely piece! Even though there are a couple grammar errors it's pretty good, and it has a nice tone to it! Maybe you could string your ideas together a little better, but other than that, it is good!

  29. i like how you broke it down in your own perspective and didn't attempt to give love a title. because you are absolutely correct love is all different types of things and its so different depending on the person. but personally i love your view on it and agree 100%

  32. I love this entry and it gives meaning to love other than loving another person which isn't done very often. Great job.

  33. Maybe it's just me, but I get what you're saying, about being lost in love. This piece, it's so relevant to today's generation because we're all a bit lost in love. Not the actual love itself but the meaning of it, and whether we're feeling the feeling or not. The topic evokes emotions and questions which demands to be answered, accept, we're just lost in love, right?

  34. I like how you believe that we shouldn't give up on love because we have all of our lives to discover it! Yes we are lost in love right now because us teens don't know what we want but what the future holds for us is true love. Nice imagery.

  35. Chris, I love this! This was such a great piece, with awesome word choice! This was a great topic to write on, since most of us are so eager to find love right away. It reminds us that we don't need to grow up so fast, and that in the meantime, we can find out what true love really is. Awesome job!

  36. When I read this I think of the novel we just finished reading "The Stranger," that people are different and its okay to question things like words or people. Some people view certain things differently and we can't do anything about it. But just learn to live with it.

  37. Wow I really like this and all of the comparisons you made. This is really nice and i truly believe true love will find all of us in the end. Very sweet piece. loved the flow of it, good job! :-)

  41. I absolutely love (haha!) this. Did you know that there are three words to express love in Japanese? There's the typical daisuki, which you use to describe familial love or friendship or the fact that you love something. Then there's aishiteru, which you use for your significant other. And finally, there's koshiteru, which you use to express love to the one you one to spend the rest of your life with.
Just a little input, since it's all I've been thinking about as I read your piece. Great work!

  42. Love is a mysterious to some and completely understood by others, there are even some who fall in between. most want to figure it all out and others who don't care at all what it is

  43. This is really good yo' and yeah I know a lot of teenagers question what love really is, but honestly I think everyone will know when they've fallen in love. Whether it be an inanimate object or not.
