The Poison
David Roebuck
Your words, your words, oh friend of mine is like
Poison, a sweet smelling lilie near wine.
Your speech - draws me near to your heart to strike
My soul, oh missèd warning signs of thine!
Your words, received make toll on my inner being,
I gag, and gasp, I thrash, I bash on floor
My eyes humbled, my soul bereft, now fleeing
To you I say “Leave me, one I abhor!”
A caution for friends-their glee is your end:
Take faith and watch for weeds among friends

Anyways on a serious note, I really liked how you portrayed friendship in this poetic piece that showed the hidden trials and tribulations behind friendship. - kevin de lama
