As this year comes to an end, it’s bittersweet that many of us will go our separate
ways, since it’s only the beginning of the end there is plenty of time to discover and wonder about our future. Looking back, high school has been full of ups and downs, trials and tribulations. On the bright side, there has been plenty of great memories made as well. Some of us know exactly what we want to do in life, others possibly have no clue. But that’s okay, personally I’m not sure where my life is going to take me after high school, but I do know each and every one of us has a purpose in life. It’s not an easy task to know what you meant to do in this world. When looking at our class there are future teachers, photographers, archeologists, scientists, fashion designers, and filmmakers who are going to make a difference in this world, and just like them, it’s up to you to find your purpose. When you find your purpose it leads you to a lifelong journey of success. Having a purpose and fulfilling it fills an empty part of ourselves we search for our entire lives. Have you ever questioned “What am I meant to do?”, or “What am I good at?”. But the biggest question is “What impact will it make for others?”. We ask ourselves these questions because we know we’re destined to do something bigger than ourselves. I can’t give a five-step plan to finding your purpose because its a self-journey that you have to

We ask ourselves these questions because we know we’re destined to do something bigger than ourselves. I can’t give a five-step plan to finding your purpose because its a self-journey that you have to
allow yourself to lead. However, the main focus of finding your purpose is to feed your
soul. Reading poetry, or music that makes you feel like you can accomplish anything in
this world. This allows ideas and positive thinking to flow throughout decision making
and your life. Mark Twain said “The two most important days in your life are the day you
are born, and the day you find out why”, we don’t realize how much we are worth and
that we are truly meant to make an impact on this world. Each and every one of us has a
purpose and I know you are all going to find it.

It scares me to think I may not meet my own goals and standards that I have set for myself, but after reading this, it makes me realize that whatever I do will turn out alright as long as it moves me closer to my purpose in life. So thank you for this and wonderful job!

The piece is full of motivation, helping the reader find hope for the future. It is a perfect piece right now as everyone needs right now as we are stuck in our homes.
ReplyDeleteThis piece really helped motivate me. As we are all on lockdown right now due to this virus, personally things have been a bit shaky for me. It's harder to get this basketball scholarship I've been working for because I can't go visit one of the schools looking at me. This piece just gave me a lot of hope. Thanks April, well written.
ReplyDeleteThis piece was well written since we are about to graduate high school and become young adults. I liked how you stated that each of us has a purpose in life, whether we know what it is right now or that we will realize in the future as this is something all of us can relate to. The quote used at the end was a good ending to the piece. - Rafael O
ReplyDeleteI find this piece to be very relatable because being a senior we are under pressure to explore our interests and soul to find our passion that is to sustain us for the next forty years, but this piece puts into perspective as to whether our interests are impactful rather than the benefits they give to us. Overall a powerful thought and certainly motivating! —Joseph Meltreger
ReplyDeleteI think you speak for every senior when you talk about how we feel with our year coming to an end. The closer we get to graduation (if we even still get a ceremony), the more memories start to flood in from our 4 years in high school and you captured that beautifully.
ReplyDeleteEspecially reading this as a senior, is really touching to hear that people do not emphasize enough. I really enjoyed how you were able to just say that you can't really give us steps to our purpose, but it is good to know rather that everyone has one. - Victoria Giliberto
ReplyDeleteThis is such a positive and motivational piece. Especially in the circumstances we are living in. I think that we all needed to read this piece.
