Enjoy!
A many of you know the past days it has been raining, in this time I have
been warm and dry; however, I’ve seen many of my peers cold, wet, and
miserable. Now if this is how you want to survive your rainy days, by all
means continue; but, if you are looking for ways to enjoy the rain
instead of hate it, then this post is for you.
Tip 1 - DRESS APPROPRIATELY
This is very important, if you are unprepared for the rain you are going to have a terrible time. Check the weather the night before! I cannot stress this enough, if it says it is going to rain, IT IS PROBABLY GOING TO RAIN! Judge how prepared you should be based off of the weather in the morning.
If you hate having wet socks like the most of the
population, try wearing double or even triple pairs of socks. A pair of
regular shoes and fuzzy socks together work wonders to keep your feet
extra warm! If you like to wear sweatpants, try wearing a pair of
leggings underneath them to keep your legs comfortable and warm.
Wearing a long t-shirt, a sweater, and a waterproof jacket together will
not only keep you warm, but also very dry. Something to cover your
backpack, like an umbrella or even a clean trash bag will keep your
books nice and safe from the water. If you put your backpack
underneath your waterproof jacket with you, that would also work!
Lastly, proper shoes. The last thing anybody wants is wet shoes and
socks and cold toes. Rain Boots if you own some obviously are the best;
however, if you don’t own any, boots or just shoes you don’t mind to ruin
will work too!
Tip 2 - HOW TO STAY DRY
When you are exiting a vehicle, make sure to have your umbrella ready, now I know this may seem like common sense; however, while spending days watching people, they continuously get wet while trying to fumble with their umbrella. When you know you are going to be leaving soon, put your backpack on, get your umbrella ready to go with your finger on the release button. If you’re umbrella is big enough to cover both you and your backpack then obviously, keep it on your back; but, if you get to class and continuously find your backpack is soaked then try bring it to the front of you. Yes, this may make you look like a pregnant lady, but this way you can make sure it stays dry with you.
Tip 3 - HOW TO WALK IN THE RAIN

Tip 3 - HOW TO WALK IN THE RAIN
Walking is like driving in many aspects. You have to check your
surroundings before you just turn or back up. When umbrellas are
involved things become worse. People are bumping into each other,
water is flying everywhere, and you get hit in the face with a pointy
umbrella. When walking with an umbrella be aware, make sure you’re
not going to run into anybody. Also, be aware of the way you are
walking, if you are stomping throughout your walk you are probably
splashing all the people around you. Overall, you just need to be aware.
Another tip I can give you is: watching where you walk, you don’t want to
slip and fall into a puddle of water and be wet for the rest of the day.
Try not to just walk around like you are the only person trying to get to
class. Everyone else is trying to do the same thing as you, so if you walk
around and are aware of who and what is around you, you can have a
little bit of a better time walking.
Tip 4 - EMBRACE THE RAIN
When life gives you lemons, play in the rain. After all, there’s no reason to absolutely hate the rain. Every once in a while, it’s nice to relax and
Tip 4 - EMBRACE THE RAIN
When life gives you lemons, play in the rain. After all, there’s no reason to absolutely hate the rain. Every once in a while, it’s nice to relax and
enjoy your surroundings. Embrace the sound of the rain, in your car take
a minute to close your eyes and just listen. Enjoy the fact that the rain is,
in a sense, washing away all the bad to bring you better days.
Overall, I hope these tips helped even just a little. I’m no expert, of course; but, I have learned a few tips and tricks over my short period of time handling the rain. The rain isn’t for everyone, I know; however, next time it rains I hope it is a little bit of a better experience for you. With my tips, you should stay a little bit more dry and unstressed.

It really has been raining a lot. A pretty useful guide if I say so myself. I pretty much do everything on this list except put my backpack on my chest, and avoid puddles. I intentionally walk through puddles just cause I can because I have really good rain boots and I never get wet walking through the deepest of puddles.
ReplyDeleteI especially agree with the proper shoes part because lately i've noticed so many students come in vans which cannot be comfortable. This is a very cute idea to write a blog about! -erika
ReplyDeleteYour blog post made me laugh and is incredibly relevant to our daily lives at school currently! I related to your post and also liked how you ended it with a nice message to stop and enjoy the rain once in a while; after all, it won't kill you. Well-written and creative while simultaneously humorous. Nice pictures as well!

I thought your piece fit perfectly with the weather we are dealing with right now, especially at this school where it is always crowded and the rain makes things 10x worse.
ReplyDeleteI think this need to be told everywhere! Everything that you said is so true, and it's really funny reading this, because so many of us think the exact same way. Your piece was very creative, and I love how you added some comedy into you piece. I 100% agree with everything you said and your tips are really useful.
ReplyDeleteMikayla, I found this piece to be extremely interesting!! I love how you took this opportunity to write a creative "how to" that everyone can appreciate. Hopefully this helps during rainy days. :)) - Mackenzie M.

ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing guide on staying dry in the rain. Each step sets you up for success in the rain. The next time it rains I will be using these techniques.
ReplyDeleteThank you I will try to use these tips next time it rains. As Californians, we don't know waht rain is like(this is a joke) But this was helpful becasue you did give good tips and made them relateable so the reader doesn't have to struggle in what they are reading.

This was such a relatable and funny piece only because I know how tragic these rain storms are. I truly enjoyed reading this!
ReplyDeleteThis piece is very informative. I liked how to talked about how people do not come prepared for the rain at all including myself and what you should to to make sure that you are not soaking wet by the end of the day. I realize that I should actually take the time and get prepared for the rain and not just hope I will not get wet. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteI love your mentality! You turned an issue that many people have in to something they can enjoy. Instead of showing a negative outlook on rain, you showed a positive outlook and an efficient way on how to deal with the rain. - Alexia
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your How To. I'm one of those people who doesn't particularly like or enjoy the rain but I am happy it rains to help the land. Thank you for your tips, I will be using the clothes and umbrella tips! -Belen Delgadillo
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on the walking aspect! I always get so annoyed when people stomp in puddles next to me or push their way past me on their way to class. This is extremely helpful especially with all the rain happening! Thank you!- Mikaela Bryan
ReplyDeleteFor the longest time I thought that rain at school meant umbrellas hitting my face, my shoes getting wet, and traffic leaving the parking lot (but that's totally normal). After reading these tips, I still get kinda confused how its possible to accomplish tip 2 and tip 4 at the same time, but then again, for someone to write their blog on a how to catch a fade with the rain, it means they can do everything on this list perfectly. I'll probably try to walk the way a person should walk in the rain so that I don't get anything more than the ankle level of my pants next time.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your how to I found it very useful and clever. - Gaby Ortega
ReplyDeleteThis piece is so helpful! Like anyone else who attends Etiwanda, I hate the rain but your piece really informs me with some helpful tips to keep me dry and warm. I will definitely be using some of these tips tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great how to for this abnormally rainy winter!

Mikayla you're absolutely right wet socks are the worst!! I mind myself time and time again recently finding myself soaked due to my poor skills of handling the rain than you so much for the tips will definitely start layering my clothes. -Jazmine Hernandez period 2
ReplyDeleteAs someone who identifies with the cold, wet, and miserable peers category, this was really helpful lol I’m just always scared to hit people with my umbrella. This was such a creative topic to write about and i’ll definitely be taking your advice.

This was really clever and very helpful with our current weather situation while trying to get around school, these tips will definitely come in handy in the future. Great Work!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect piece to read as we have this unusually wet weather. Getting to class with a dry body and soaked backpack is so relatable! I especially loved the step-by-step procedure on how to walk in the rain because it had a somewhat sarcastic tone that I found humorous. Overall, great job!
ReplyDeleteReally nice comic tone. Also really helpful cause people don't know how to act in the rain.
ReplyDeleteThis post was absolutely necessary. I am one of those people who loves rainy days....when I’m inside the house. The rain is awesome, I just never know how to enjoy it, mostly because I don’t check the weather beforehand. However, with that being said, some of the tips you presented seem really cool and awesome to try....like the backpack one. I definitely will be using some of these, because i desperately need to find a way to get used to this weather. GREAT JOB!!!!! :)
