How to Clash Royale(Pro Gamers Only)--Nick

Disclaimer: Before we get this how to started I just want to say that I am not the best clash player ever(although pretty close to it), so if some of you pros in my class see something that you disagree with or see that I could be doing better then please feel free to comment. And this game has a lot of little things that I might not go over so just be aware of that.
Clash Royale is a RTS(Real Time Strategy) game, where you create your own deck of troops to use against other people, to try to destroy their towers, and the one to destroy the most towers by the time that the time limit is reached is the victor, or you can automatically win by destroying the opponent's king tower.
Step 1: Now that we’ve gotten the overview of the game out of the way the how to can start, and first things first, you must download the game if you ever hope to get good at it. Don’t worry the game is free. And once you’ve downloaded the game then the process of learning how to play and get better can begin.

Step 2: As soon as you open up the game it will put you through a quick tutorial. This will help you get a feel for the very basic aspects of the game like the objective of the game and how to use the cards in your deck. One thing that you may notice at the bottom of your screen is the purple meter.
This meter will slowly and continuously fill up until it reaches a max of 10 elixir. You use this elixir to summon your troops that you would use to either attack your opponent or defend your own towers.
Step 3: There are three different types of cards. Troops, spells, and buildings. Each one is useful in their own ways. Troops are pretty self explanatory, when they are place they will move towards the enemy tower and attack any enemies along the way. Spells are cards that you summon that have different effects on troops. For example, some damage, one heals your troops, and another freezes enemies. Finally, buildings are cards that when are placed are used as either stationary defences for your towers or to spawn a small amount of troops over time.
Step 4: This step is about deck creation, each person prefers different cards and has their own play style, so this step takes a little trial and error, and testing out which cards you like to use the best and what works well with other cards. When making a deck you want to make sure the average elixir cost per card isn’t too high, because you want to be able place cards to defend your king tower if necessary.
Here is my deck for example:

Step 5 : This step is to actually play the game and that means go online and play against other people. When playing there are quite a few different strategies on how to win. What I’ve found out after playing for a while is that most players are reactive instead of proactive, and this works perfectly with my playstyle. So what I like to do is wait until my elixir meter is almost full so I can have a strong first push.

So once I do get my push going the other player is more often than not overwhelmed by my troops and has too little time to react and figure out a way to save their first of three towers.
This is my signature push:

Step 6: You must always have a backup strategy, if your going to win and get better you must be able to adapt to your opponent and the cards that they use. This is why I have a backup strategy in place. One thing that I do is that I place some troops on one side in order to fake a push in order to get my opponent to use all his elixir defending, and after they do that you put cards on the other side for your real push. You may sacrifice some damage on the side that you faked your push on but in most cases you will be the one that comes out on top of the trade. Or if you find that the opponent has one card that really messes you and your deck up, you should try to make them play that card, then capitalize off the fact that they cant use it on you anymore until they go through their entire deck again.
Step 7: These are just a few things that you can do in order to win, but the only real way to get better at the game is by actually playing in it. Like many other things in life you have to actually experience them to understand them. Once you’ve formulated your own strategy that best fits your play style then you can start to get better and progress. And when you win make sure you always assert your dominance by emoting on the other player. My personal favorites are the crying emoji and the oops message button.
And if you were wondering I absolutely destroyed Deacon.

    1. I clicked immediately when I saw this title. I love this game and I've been playing it for two years. At 5027 trophies so far. The key to this game is patience and quick reaction time. Hesitation mustn't exist when you play. Drop cards quickly to cycle through cards but don't waste elixir. Always wait for your opponent to make a mistake, then strike. Good guide.

  3. I liked how there was a sense of sarcasm but the how-to was overall still very helpful. Great job Nick! If I ever play this game then I will know who to ask for tips.

  4. Since I personally play this game I have to admit I do not agree with your playstyle. I feel being more centered on your defense is a key component most player forget about. However, I believe you do give a good summary about what the game is about.

  5. From a person that has never played clash royal, I would say this has taught a lot things from different kinds of strategies to the kind of deck you use. The instructions were clear enough to understand from a non-gamer perspective and it seems pretty cool so maybe one day I'll play it.

  7. I really like this How-To because I am personally able to improve at a video game once I learn the strategies to getting better. Clash Royale is a popular game, so it'd be cool to get better at so I can play with friends. Thank you for making this guide. Time to start the grind!
