The way I see it

Life today, the way we see it we tend to focus more on the negative aspects rather than the good, it seems easier to fill up our heads with the “what ifs” “how comes” “why.” Instead of the “good jobs” “better luck next time” and “good try.” Something so small can have the biggest impacts on our actions whether its things not going your way or someone not liking you back. Stuff like this can totally make our day pretty crappy. And when we get in those crappy moods you just want to crawl into bed and stay away from anyone and everyone but in reality no one is going to put up with that, you know besides our mothers of course.. I think what we forget to do in life is appreciate the little things, and people themselves. Everyone is focused on seeing the big picture rather than focusing on the minor, yet great details themselves. This happens throughout everyday life, have you noticed that not many people are even grateful they woke up this morning, no hug or an ‘I love you’ is said to each of your family members, no one stops and notices the beautiful lady bug that is crawling around on the leaf. This is mostly because we take things for granted.. in reality everyone is only focused on themselves, not really caring if the person standing next to them is having an awful day. I don’t know about you but when someone gives me a compliment it totally makes my day better I feel more confident and happy. To me compliments and laughter make the world go round. People should take the time to step back, soak up the sun, live, and spread as much joy as they can. Who wants to be a negative Nancy  and mope around waiting for something to happen when the power is in your hands to make any situation or mood better than what it was before. Start by taking these words into consideration “Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness, Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place” –Kurt Vannegut. And that’s just it people! The world is such a beautiful place, and most of the world you still haven’t experienced theres so much beauty in every country with every language that goes along with it. From nature, art, to streets everything has an awe to it you just have to search to find it. Keep in mind that its ok for you to mess up and not always have such a positive attitude towards everything because some days are harder than others, and there are everyday challenges that you have to overcome that people might not get and its understandable. As long as your happy with how your attitude is towards people and the way you present yourself then more power to you. Keep your head up and don’t forget that everything that you are going through is temporary things could always change.

  2. I agree that we like to focus on the negatives, but we need to focus on the positives as well. Thanks for getting me thinking!

  3. Your message couldn't have come at a better time. As seniors and teenagers, I feel that with so much stress, it's easy to lose track of what really matters. We get so caught up in the negativity in life that we don't have time to appreciate the wonderful things life brings too. I really like how you wrote this piece, it shows wisdom :)

  4. I certainly promote the spread of optimism (some days) but I found your topic to be debatable, however still understandable and reasonable, one refuting argument I personally hold is that hate can also live in the "world" of what is beautiful, it just depends on how it is perceived. I enjoyed reading this for the very element I previously mentioned: the perspective (and what a fitting title).

  5. I really agree with the first part of this when you say that people tend to take things for granted nowadays. I feel like everyone can relate to this. Good job!

  6. I totally agree! The way people look at the world needs to be changed into a more positive way! I absolutely loved the quote you used! Great Job!

  7. Oh my, don't we all wish everyone had a little of this in 'em. Its rather disheartening the entitled nature of mankind in developed countries today and one has to wonder what possible could put things in perspective, for truly you're right in the subject being "the way i see it" everything is up to perception, and im sure they aren't all alike. what exactly is the "it" in this instance? life? What we make of it? Take your time with your writing, Rebecca, i feel like you have a bunch of great stuff to say but you rush through and somethings are forgotten along the way. thank you for sharing:)

  8. Great topic something that totally relates to myself today. Sometimes I get caught up in the minute details and I stress myself! This was totally a great reminder for me to look up and remember the stars, tell my family I love them, and just be confident and happy. Thanks for the reminder and great writing!

  12. I love your idea of life and how it should be lived. I needed to read this because lately I haven't been going through the motions and not taking the time to appreciate the small things.

  13. Wow... I definitely agree with you Rebecca, wherever we go we see strangers everyday and its just so interesting that we do not know them but maybe in the future we will. It so crazy how much things impact in our lives just by one person, we need to always keep things positive or at least try to look like it so it wouldn't seem negative. Just a smile or a compliment makes everybody's day a lot better. thank you for this amazing piece!

  16. Even when people try to take a positive outlook on things, the seemingly "worse" situations surrounding them always take over, I think you really communicated that idea well. I could imagine someone presenting this piece as a speech and that's awesome to see, its like you're not just reading it, but you're really observing/listening your ideas.

  22. I think the part about saying goodbye and giving each of your family members a hug and a kiss before you leave really hit home to me, because it's so true, so many of us are so busy with what we have going in our lives that way too often we don't even take a second to think about the people around us, even the ones that have known us all our lives. I also loved the part about the things and events we haven't experienced yet, something new is always around the corner and because of this we can always be looking forward to something beautiful on the horizon. Your piece was very uplifting and it allowed me to reflect on myself :) Great writing!

  23. I really enjoyed how you wrote about something most people tend to forget all the time. It's a nice reminder for those that don't stay positive, especially with our graduation coming up and our challenges in the future.

  25. A really inspirational read! It gave me a new way to look at a bad situation/problem and overcome it! Sulking in sadness will only hold us back, especially in such a crucial time becoming adults.

  26. I totally agree with how society should change its outlook on life, life is way too short to be unhappy. There are so many wonderful things around us that we don't even realize. I loved this! Grrrrrrreat job!

  28. I think this goes perfectly with what we have been learning about existentialism. The idea of appreciating life and all of the little things that go along with it. I think this idea is an eye-opener and we all need to "stop and smell the roses".

  29. I loved this positive perspective that you gave. Its hard to have such an optimistic outlook on life, but its comments like this that give me hope! I hope tomorrow this post can give me as much of a happy mindset as it does right now!

  35. This is a remedy to all pessismists out there focusing on the negative things in retrospective. What I like about your piece is that you try to shed away darkness for the sake of all the beauty life is capable of.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I found this piece to extremely relevant and insightful to everyday life. however i believe that this notion states that people should try to avoid being sad or enforce happiness upon themselves and i cannot agree with this.

  37. The imagery of someone driving and the conclusion of it being a metaphor for an unfortunate experience really made the overall poem impactful with the intended tone. Your delivery was strong throughout because you manage to cloak the mood with somber.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is a great eye opener that we should all be more positive than negative, and to also appreciate what we normally take for granted because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

    ReplyDelete
  39. man, i cant help but think so much like you... aha sounds like a very cool life lesson and the writing itself was great. this is a nice piece of work.

  41. You have a great message and were really able to put it all together

  42. Everything you wrote is absolutely true in my eyes. We shouldn't always worry abut the big things because that always seems scary but if we live day to day just being grateful for the little things, life could be easier.
    Wonderfully written! :)
